Lake Roland Nature Council and Baltimore County Recreation and Parks Background Check Process
Individuals desiring to volunteer on behalf of the Lake Roland Nature Council and/or Baltimore County Recreation and Parks at Lake Roland are required to undergo a background check ensure the safety and welfare of children participating in park programming/activities and the economic welfare of the Lake Roland Nature Council and associated park patrons. Individuals subject to and not subject to the background check requirement are outlined below in the Lake Roland Nature Council Background Check Policy and in the Volunteer Documents section under Volunteer Background Check Requirements HERE.
Lake Roland Nature Council Background Check Policy:
- The entire Lake Roland Nature Council Board is subject to the Baltimore County Background Check Policy.
- Any Lake Roland Nature Council Committee Members are subject to the Baltimore County Background Check Policy.
- The Paw Point Dog Park Executive Committee, processes the dog park applications, handles funds and addresses dog park related issues and disputes so are subject to the Baltimore County Background Check Policy.
- The Lake Roland Nature Council Membership committee, processes the park membership applications and handles funds so are subject to the Baltimore County Background Check Policy.
- Any Lake Roland Nature Council volunteer that volunteers with children (under 18) is subject to the Baltimore County Background Check Policy.
- Lake Roland Nature Council volunteers that are not subject to the Baltimore County Background Check Policy:
- Trails Maintenance volunteers (trails repair and restoration, no children involved)
- Development volunteers (Fund raising, not funds handling, no children involved)
- Recreation volunteers (adult recreation activities or activities that the parents are required to participate with their children such as canoeing. If the recreation activities involve activities with children without the presence of their parent, the volunteer is subject to the Baltimore County Background Check Policy)
- Environmental & Historic Preservation volunteers (no children involved)
- Paw Point Dog Park volunteers (no children involved)
Background Checks, once taken, may take up to two weeks for your approval to be posted on the Baltimore County Approved Volunteer Roster to then be permitted to volunteer with children (under 18). Background checks expire one year from the posted approval date of your background check.

- Click on Apply next to Lake Roland.
- Fill out and submit the application.
