The Lake Roland Nature Council was mentioned in a Newsletter by the Ruxton Riderwood Lake Roland Area Improvement Association regarding a Nature Council outreach project assisting in the removal of hundreds of illegally dumped tires that were posing a public health risk and environmental impact to the Jones Falls Watershed. The Nature Council sent four volunteers and heavy equipment to assist in the cleaning of overgrowth and fallen trees to create and access lane to the tire dumping area for retrieval of the tires.
