The Robert E Lee Park Nature Council and the Guilford Garden Club held the 2015 Native Plant Sale on May 4 at the Lake Roland. It was a beautiful day and the sale was a great success! A wide variety of native plants were carefully selected to meet a variety of existing conditions such as sun, shade, dry, moist etc. A selection of deer resistant plants was also available. Professional gardeners were on hand to offer plant advice. People brought photographs of their gardens. Participants learned about the importance of landscaping with plants native to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and how to attract butterflies, birds and other wildlife by selecting specific native plants. The sale attracted local Baltimore neighbors and folks from as far away as Delaware. Plants found new homes in neighborhoods surrounding the park and as far away as Rock Hall, Maryland. Proceeds of the sale go to Robert E Lee Park Nature Council for improvements in the park and the Guilford Garden Club scholarship fund.
The Nature Council thanks all the volunteers who made this day so successful and is looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2016 Native Plant Sale.
